Newton Police say a male juvenile is being held on a Class D felony charge for statements he allegedly made on a Newton Community School bus after classes on Tuesday.

Captain Chris Wing with the Newton Police Department says officers were able to confirm the juvenile made statements about targeted violence against a specific group and bringing a firearm to school the following day. The police department was notified of the incident at approximately 4:12pm Tuesday.

Captain Wing says the juvenile was taken into custody without issue and is being charged for Threat of Terrorism, and is being held at Central Iowa Detention in Eldora .
