The Pella City Council moved ahead with three resolutions during regular business Tuesday evening relating to two upcoming projects.

Public hearings for the indoor recreation center proposal and for renovation for what is being called the City of Pella Annex building project were both on the agenda. The renovation of the 215 Main Street building is projected to cost just under $1.5 million, with bids to be considered for a contract on March 15th. The rec center review will come on April 15th.

The council also reviewed a proposal for a $500,000 Community Attraction and Tourism grant agreement with Iowa Economic Development Authority.

Prior to regular business, Mayor Don DeWaard appointed several residents to new committees, including a pair related to the upcoming Comprehensive Plan and Zoning Code update process, and for a new Neighborhood Revitalization Grant Committee.

During policy and planning, city administration asked about negotiating a Local Option Sales Tax Redistribution Agreement with Marion County that expires at the end of this year and to contact Lake Prairie Township about paying for ambulance services and potential capital improvements to the Pella Fire Station. No formal action was taken on either item.
