The #13 in 4A Pella girls held off a late Eagles charge and the #9 in 3A Dutch boys dominated wire-to-wire in finishing a season sweep of the Pella Christian basketball teams Friday, as heard live on 92.1 KRLS.

The girls matchup went in favor of the home team at Pella High School 45-36, while the boys tilt was 74-44 for the green and white. The Dutch controlled the festivities from the early going, and built a 14-point lead by the end of the third quarter. But the Eagles found their footing, scoring the first seven points of the 4th quarter until Jenna Oltman hit a critical three to re-open a double-digit advantage. The Dutch committed just 10 turnovers and hit seven three-point baskets to just two for P.C. Pella’s girls were led by 13 points from Kamryn Long and 10 by Emma Walkup; the Eagles were paced by 13 points from Rachel Kacmarynski and 11 from Addie Van Arendonk.

The night cap was a methodical performance from the surging Dutch as they never trailed their crosstown rivals, building a 12-point lead in the first quarter and gradually extending it into the final minutes. Pella shot 53.7% from the field to earn the 30-point win. Jack McGuire scored 17 points, Harrison Mullens added 11, and Austin Schulte scored 10 for Pella; the Eagles were led by 12 from Cooper Spronk, 11 by Deacon Branderhorst, and 10 points from Landon Fransman.

Pella’s boys have won nine of their last ten games to move to 13-5 overall and 8-2 in the conference, while the Dutch girls move to 14-6 overall and 7-3 against league foes. Senior night awaits in the next doubleheader Tuesday vs Indianola, but not before the Dutch boys head to Wells Fargo Arena on Monday to take on North Polk. Tickets can be purchased here.

The Eagles girls drop to 7-12 overall and 1-9 in the conference while the P.C. boys are now 8-11 and 2-8 against league opponents. Both return to Eagle Lane Tuesday against DCG.
