
The Norwalk boys basketball team lost to Johnston on Saturday while six Norwalk swimmers competed in a boys district meet.
Taking part in the State Basketball Crossover event, the Warrior boys were defeated by Johnston 59-41 in a game played at West Des Moines Valley. Senior Grady Sigrist led Norwalk with 10 points on the day. The Warriors are now 8-9 overall and will host Newton on Tuesday night as part of a girl-boy doubleheader.
Competing for the Des Moines Lincoln swim team, six Norwalk boys participated in Saturday’s District Meet at Waukee. The Rails placed six out of eight teams with 149 points and did not have any state qualifiers.
Four Norwalk swimmers placed in the top 10 of an individual event, each clocking a season-best time. Junior Keegan Kraft placed eighth in the 100-yard backstroke (59.36), freshman Daxton Hughes placed eighth in the 500 freestyle (5:28.01), junior Brayden Plourde was ninth in the 50 freestyle (23.38) and junior Kingston Smith took 10th in the 500 freestyle (5:42.41).
