
A construction worker was life flighted on Sunday after falling at the Veterans District in Knoxville.
At approximately 10:45 am Sunday, the Knoxville Fire Department was dispatched to the VA District and found a construction worker to have fallen in excess of ten feet while working on a house. Due to the patient being found in the basement, the call was deemed a technical rescue. More resources were then requested from Knoxville Fire Department and Knoxville Rural Fire Department.
Those responding worked quickly to remove the patient from the basement. A medical helicopter was requested to transport the patient to a nearby trauma center. The helicopter landed in the open lot at the intersection of W. Pleasant and Freedom Way.
The Knoxville Fire Department was assisted by the Knoxville Rural Fire Department, Knoxville Police Department, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, and the Iowa State Patrol.
