Absentee voting is now underway at the Jasper County Courthouse for three Jasper County townships included in a March 4th Physical Plant and Equipment Levy Election. The Jasper County Auditors Office says approximately 900 registered voters in Hickory Grove, Lynn Grove, and Richland townships are in the Grinnell-Newburg School District. The School Board there is asking for a ten year extension of the 67-cent Physical Plant and Equipment Levy, which generates revenue for a variety of school expenses. If approved, the extension would begin with the 2026-2027 fiscal year.
Absentee voting on the 2nd floor of the Jasper County Courthouse in Newton is available during the Auditor Office’s normal hours of 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Voting hours on Tuesday, March 4th will be 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. and all Jasper County residents in the Grinnell-Newburg School District will vote at the fire station in Kellogg.
