NCMP boys swimmers will compete in three individual events and three relays at the State Swim Meet, which gets underway tonight in Iowa City.
Finn Martin, who was named District Swimmer of the year at the District Swim Meet in Ames last week, will attempt to repeat as State Champion in the 50 yard freestyle. He’s also a favorite to win the 100 yard freestyle, after placing second at State in that event last year. Ethan Comer qualified for State in the 100 yard breaststroke, placing second at the District Meet. Martin, Comer, Mack Copeland, and Caleb Punt also advanced to state after finishing second at the District Meet in the 200 yard freestyle relay. The 400 yard freestyle team and the 200 yard medley relay team also made State. The State Boys Swim Meet consists of the 32 fastest individuals and 24 quickest relay teams in each event. The individual event preliminaries are this evening, while the relays and finals are Saturday.
