The Melcher-Dallas Boys basketball Squad started slow, but picked up steam and beat Colfax-Mingo 67-60 Friday night in the opening round of the class 1A District. The Saints were down by 14 at halftime, but cut the lead to five going into the 4th quarter. Coach Matt Bennett told KNIA Sports his team played fantastic and hit free throws down the stretch to get the win, going 17/20 from the free throw line. Drew Heaberlin led the Saints with 23 points while Reece Chiabotta scored 14, Colton Cox had 11 and Austin Remster scored ten. The Saints advance to play top seed and #2 ranked Madrid on Monday.
