Interviews were held Thursday and Friday with the top applicants for the position of Administrator of the Jasper County Veterans Affairs Office. Jasper County Human Resources Director Dennis Simon says seven individuals were identified as the most qualified for the job out of just over 20 applicants.

“Hopefully the selection committee can agree on a specific candidate. Then we will make a recommendation to the Veterans Affairs Commission. As long as they approve it we will do all the necessary checks and tests and place a hiring resolution in front of the Board of Supervisors.”

According to Simon, the Veterans Affairs Commission will have a meeting next week and the selection committee may recommend a candidate to hire during that time.
