Senior housing will be coming to Knoxville’s new Veteran’s District.

At Monday’s meeting, the Knoxville City Council approved the final plat for the Veterans District Plat 2 subdivision. Included in this plat will be a new Overland Group LLC housing project that includes approximately 50 rental units for seniors. Knoxville City Manager Heather Ussery says this senior housing is a significant need for the city.

“In our housing needs assessment it stated that we needed almost 300 units of new senior housing and this was the 2016 housing need assessment and since that time we haven’t added any so that need is still there if not has grown so I think this will make an impact in that for sure.”
