The Knoxville City Council approved the final plat for the Veterans District plat 2 subdivision at their meeting Monday night.

This plat is on the south side of West Pleasant St. and east of Willetts Dr. The property will be subdivided into two lots for multi-family housing developments including a 48 unit senior living facility by Overland Group LLC. and a two-phase market rate rental housing project with a 36 unit apartment building and 20 townhouse units by Huegerich Holdings LLC. The plat is approximately 6.5 acres of land. City Manager Heather Ussery says the projects are needed in the community.

“Both of these projects will get started in the spring and will probably have a 12-18 month construction time so we are eager for those. We’ve needed some senior housing significantly over the last couple of years and it’ s been a long time since we’ve had one of those projects so I think these will both go over very well in our community.”

This land is known as the doctor’s quarters from the former VA campus.
