Interviews will soon be held for the Assistant Principal position at Newton’s Berg Middle School. Grundmeyer Leader Services of Huxley was hired by the Newton School board to recruit candidates for the job. The application period began January 17th and ends on Sunday, with interviews for selected applicants expected to be scheduled within the next couple of weeks. The Newton School Board has posted the start date for the chosen candidate as July 1st.
The former Berg Assistant Principal, Stephanie Langstraat, reached a Resignation of Employment and Release Agreement with the school board in mid January. Under the agreement, Langstraat voluntarily resigned her position effective December 13th. In return, the School District gave her two lump sum payments of $20,000 for remaining wages, and for any claim of compensation for damages under the law, including emotional distress. The agreement also states the terms represent a compromise of any and all potential claims by Langstraat against the Newton School District and those connected with the District, including employees, administrators, and contractors.
