A longtime administrator in the Pella Community School District died this week. Dr. Orville J. Dunkin passed away Thursday at The Cottages in Pella at 93 years old. Dunkin served as the Pella School District leader for 26 years until his retirement in 1999. Dunkin was born near Albia and attended country schools in Lovilia and Bussey, and was also a class of 1953 graduate of Central College. He was a member of Pella Rotary, Pella Historical Society, the Pella Community Foundation, and Second Reformed Church. Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
