The United Way of Jasper County’s guest speaker series “Voices of Inspiration” returns late next week. Executive Director Jessica Lowe Vokes says that the series, which is free to the public, went over well last year and is back this year because of the financial support provided by several local sponsors.
This year’s line up includes next Thursday’s speaker, Paralympic Gold Medalist and Archer of the Year Matt Stutzman. Newton author and award-winning journalist Mike Chapman speaks March 6th, former Iowa Lottery CEO and author Terry Rich will be the speaker on March 27th, and the spring series wraps up on April 10th with Mary Owen, the daughter of actress Donna Reed and TV Producer Tony Owen. Vokes says all the speakers have some connection to Iowa.
“We are not just a fly-over state. Iowans can do cool things. We have connections in history and culture. I am just so excited that we not only feature local people, but international folks. And they all have an Iowa tie.”
The free “Voices of Inspiration” series is presented at the Newton DMACC Auditorium. Doors open at 6 p.m., and the speakers begin at 6:30 p.m. United Way of Jasper County Executive Director Jessica Lowe Vokes talks more about the guest speaker series on today’s Let’s Talk Newton.
