
The Newton boys bowling team knocked down 2,973 pins at the Two Rivers Conference meet at Statesmen Lanes in Oskaloosa Friday, earning them third place. Oskaloosa won the meet with 3,143 pins, and Sigourney-Keota took second with 3,010.
Newton’s top bowler was Jeremiah Killmer, who finished in 11th place with a 641 series. Three other Cardinals placed inside in the top 30, With Nathan Hauber came in 19th with a 595 series, Gentry Swarts taking 28th with 572 series, and Austin Kennedy finishing 30th with a 569 series. Rounding out Newton’s lineup were Ethan Valtman in 41st with a score of 523 and Parker Kennedy in 54th with a 462.
The Conference meet ends the Newton boys bowling team’s season. The Cardinals were 7-3 in duals, placed second at the Cardinal Invitational, and fourth at the State Qualifying meet earlier this week.
