Signs at city parks and facilities in Newton are going to be repaired and replaced. The Newton City Council has approved spending up to $25,000 on improving the signs at just over 20 locations. Newton City Administrator Matt Muckler says there are no significant design changes being made. But the letters spelling out the name of the park or facility will be enlarged significantly, while the size of the “Get to Know Newton” logo will be reduced. Mayor Evelyn George says she is in favor of the change.

“So people know where they are in Newton, not that they are in Newton. They need to know where am I in Newton.”

The city of Newton adopted the “Get to Know Newton” brand approximately 10 years ago, and that was when the current signage went up city-wide. Sign-Pro of Newton handled the project when the signs were installed, and will also be putting up the new signage.
