One person from Urbandale was killed in a crash on Interstate 80 in Jasper County this morning.

The Iowa State Patrol reports a Freightliner Tractor was heading eastbound near Mile Marker 179 and entered the median, striking a cable barrier. The semi then went between the bridge decks and struck a nearby creek bed.

The driver, 45-year-old Mebratu Menteso Wonjala, died from his injuries.
