The Indianola girls basketball team fell to Waukee in the regional semifinal round Saturday evening 80-37 as heard live on 94.3 KNIA.

The Indians played strong defensively to start, leading 4-2 after the opening three minutes of the contest but were unable to push their lead as the Warriors found their groove and went on a 20-2 run to end the quarter to lead 22-6, then continued that in the second quarter leading 43-18 at halftime.

Indianola continued to fight in the third quarter, going on an early run to cut the lead down but the Warriors could not miss from long range and got the game to running clock to earn the victory.

Head coach Jeff Janssen said the fight in the second half was something that defines this team and this senior class and their leadership, the never give up attitude and perseverance through adversity.

Indianola ends their season with a record of 7-15, and graduates a senior class of three.
