Newton Junior Gabbie Humphrey will compete in the 2A Girls State Bowling Tournament in Waterloo this morning. Humphrey qualified as an individual by bowling a 531 series and placing fourth in the qualifying meet at Newton’s Cardinal Lanes last week. Humphrey says she bowled as part of Newton’s team at the State Bowling Tournament when she was a freshman, but realizes today will be a new experience.

“It’s different when you are not bowling with anyone else on your team. You just have a couple of coaches, so there’s no one really to completely relate to. But I’m sure it will go fine.”

Humphrey’s lane assignment today is lane 30. Earlier this month she bowled a career high 634 series at the Two Rivers Conference Meet, making her the Individual Conference Champion by 40 pins.
