Looking to secure their fourth consecutive appearance in the substate finals, the Pella Christian boys basketball team takes on Grand View Christian tonight in the Class 2A District 10 Championship game.

The Eagles have rolled to a pair 25+ point victory in their opening two games of the postseason journey, defeating Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont 61-35 and Davis County 72-31. Meanwhile, the Thunder used a 14-point advantage in the fourth quarter of their lone district game last Thursday to pull out a 73-61 win over PCM. Dating back to 2016, tonight’s contest will be the fifth meeting between Pella Christian and Grand View Christian and the second this season. The Eagles won the first three games in the series in 2016, 2019, and January 2024, while the Thunder nabbed an 82-49 win earlier this season on December 19th for their first victory in the matchup. Following their win at Davis County last Thursday, Pella Christian head coach Marv Van Wyk said that he and the team were excited to see that they’d get another shot against Grand View.

“In the locker room after they put it on us a little bit before Christmas, I told our team ‘I hope we get a chance to play them again,’ and I was serious. And I just told them in the locker room now [Thursday], ‘we got our wish, we get to play them again.’ And they’re a really good team, an excellent team. They’ve got size, they’ve got good shooters, they’ve got a great coaching staff, and we’re just going to work extremely hard and really dedicate ourselves these next few days to prepare for that and our kids have a great mindset.”
