The Knoxville City Council continued their annual budget presentations on Monday.
At the meeting the council heard annual budget presentations for the police and library departments. There was a lengthy discussion between the council and library staff and board members in attendance with concerns regarding the library budget. The library stated that they are operating on the bare minimum funds right now and were concerned that the budget proposal showed a decrease in approximately $13,000. There were also concerns presented that libraries all across the state are going to be receiving cuts as well. All budget presentations are not final until they are approved by the council at a later meeting.
Also at the meeting the council approved an Overland Property Group site plan for a new senior living facility in the Veterans District, Brick Gentry as the new city attorney, and an agreement between Snyder and Associates and the Knoxville Water Reclamation Department for additional services.
