Multiple warnings (now expired) impacted to region on 7/31/2024
While many residents are cleaning up after a wind storm and blizzard impacted the area on Wednesday, March means warmer severe weather events are on the horizon. The National Weather Service and Marion County Emergency Management are partnering for in-person storm spotter training on Thursday, March 13th at 7 p.m. at the Vermeer Global Pavilion in Pella. Warning Coordination Meteorologist Chad Hahn with the National Weather Service says the 75-90 minute session provides details about how to safely and properly spot tornadoes and severe thunderstorms, and is free and open to the public. Iowa Severe Weather Awareness Week is March 24th through the 28th, with the annual Statewide Tornado Drill scheduled on March 26th.
