Iowa Speedway continues to work with state and local officials to repeat the feedback obtained from race fans who attended or watched the first ever NASCAR race at the Newton track last year. Iowa Speedway President Eric Peterson told the Newton City Council this week, the fan response to a survey sent to every ticketholder after last year’s race was positive.
“If parking is bad, if concession lines and bathroom lines are bad, I’m probably not going back to that event. We heard an overwhelmingly positive response about our traffic and our parking. We worked with local, state, and county officials on ensuring that was an extremely smooth process. It took months and months of planning, but everyone was supportive of that so we executed it really well on race weekend. I am really, really proud of that.
Peterson says he’s been amazed by the state, county, and city support that has been shown in working with Iowa Speedway and NASCAR to ensure race weekends are successful.
