Knoxville Athlete Brenden Woolsey has decided to continue his football career at Mount Mercy University in Cedar Rapids. Woolsey was the starting quarterback for the Panthers last fall and set the single season passing record with 1,342 and 14 touchdowns he also led the Panthers on the ground with 243 yards and four scores. Woolsey tells KNIA/KRLS Sports he chose Mount Mercy because they wanted him and it is not a long way from home.
Woolsey: “I felt like the coaches really appreciated me. The head coach was all in on me, not like I kind of want you here, he really wanted to come there and it really feels great.”
Woolsey will help usher in football at Mount Mercy as this fall will be the Mustangs’ inaugural season. Woolsey is excited to be a part of a first year program and hopes by the time he leaves, Mount Mercy is a force to be reckoned with. Mount Mercy recently announced the opening of its new football center. Mount Mercy is an NAIA school and is a member of the Heart of America Athletic Conference.
