Matt Ritchhart has resigned from the Knoxville Girls basketball Program. Pending School Board approval at Monday’s meeting there will be a search for his successor. The Panthers finished up 5-17 this season and Ritchhart tells KNIA/KRLS Sports it was time to devote more time to his family but he is not leaving coaching altogether.

Ritchhart: “Sometimes you have to make a choice in life what your priority is and my family is my priority. My 8 year old will be playing so I’m looking forward to coaching and helping in the KBBA and helping future Panthers maybe get to the State Tournament in a few years.”

Ritchhart compiled a 41-48 record in four seasons with the Panthers. He was also the boys interim coach during the 2020/2021 season for the final 13 games that season compiling an 8-5 record. He guided the girls to three top three finishes in the South Central Conference. A search will start to find Ritchhart’\successor.
