A senior housing project in Knoxville’s Veterans District will start construction this spring.

This project called “The Residences at Veteran’s Park” is an Overland Group LLC senior living facility that will consist of a three-story, 48-unit apartment building with 78 parking spaces. The new building will be on the south side of West Pleasant St. on 2.92 acres of land which is considered Block A of the district. Knoxville City Manager Heather Ussery tells KNIA News for years the City has identified that senior housing is a need in the community and this project is a step in the right direction. 

“The studies that we have done have definitely confirmed the need in our community for senior housing. 300 plus units is what the study has shown and so 48 units is a good start but obviously not fully meeting that need, but I think it will fill fast. It will be a great new development not only for the Veterans District but overall the community and meeting those needs and the various housing requirements that a community desires.”

Also on this block will be a Hugerich Holdings LLC apartment building with market rate apartments and townhouses which will also start construction this spring.
