The Indianola Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting ceremony for Central Iowa Center for Independent Living Tuesday, welcoming the non-profit to the community. Executive Director Laura Gibson tells KNIA News the Central Iowa Center for Independent Living (CICIL) serves those in the community with disabilities, with the mission to empower those with disabilities and to help them be as independent and integrated in their community as they choose to be. Gibson said one of their services is connecting those with disabilities with possible employers.
“People with disabilities are really one of the most untapped work forces, for entry level positions and even positions well beyond that. You have a whole group of people who want to work, who are willing to work, and who have the skills to work.”
