
For the second time in the past four years, the Pella boys track and field team opened the season with a victory in the first scored meet of the spring, winning the Class 3A trophy of the Iowa Association of Track and Field Coaches Indoor Championships in Ames on Thursday.
The Dutch scored 57 team points in the field of 25 teams from across the state. Top finishes for the Dutch included:
60 Meters – Harrison Mullens, 5th – 7.04
60 Meter Hurdles – Levi Shetterly, 8th – 9.02
200 Meters – Harrison Mullens, 4th – 22.63
800 Meters – Mason Gaulke, 3rd – 2:03.73
1600 Meters – Canaan Dunham, 2nd – 4:15.59 – Drake Relays Blue Standard Time
3200 Meters – Canaan Dunham, 1st – 9:13.32 – Drake Relays Blue Standard Time
High Jump – Logan VanDenBroek, 6th – 5-11
Long Jump – Emmanuel Diers, 3rd (20-2); Owen Kettler, 4th (19-10.75)
Boys Distance Medley – 3rd (Landen Pleima, Colin Kerndt, Benjamin Thompson, Mason Gaulke) – 3:40.57
