The second of four public informational meetings the Jasper County Secondary Roads Department is hosting this month about gravel road maintenance will be held in Lynnville tonight. This year, Jasper County Engineer Mike Frietsch says the department wants to equalize Level A gravel roads across the county this spring and bring them all to a similar condition. Here in Jasper County, Frietsch says that’s a pretty big job.
“Jasper County geographically speaking, is about the eighth largest county in Iowa. We have about 927 miles of Level A gravel roads.”
Frietsch says the Secondary Roads Department plans to resurface every Level A granular road with a similar amount of rock and focus on resurfacing and blading.
The first informational meeting on gravel road maintenance in Jasper County was held last Tuesday, March 11th in Prairie City. Tonight’s 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. meeting will be held at Lynnville City Hall. Two more will be held this Thursday at Baxter City Hall and next Tuesday, March 25th at Amboy Grange in Kellogg. Those meetings will also be held from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
