
The Iowa Legislature received the second of two reports from the Revenue Estimating Conference last week, which forecasts the Iowa economy to set guidelines for the FY26 budget. State Senator Julian Garrett tells KNIA News the Senate and House leadership will get together and prepare their budget proposals, and he supports not spending up to the limit set by the Revenue Estimating Conference.
“So we spend less than what we legally could, and I’ve advocated that from ever since I’ve been in the legislature. You just never know, and if you spend up to the limit and your revenue comes up short you are in trouble.”
