
Central College men’s basketball center Joshua Van Gorp was selected to the NABC All-District IX First Team for the third consecutive season, and the D3hoops.com All-Region IX First Team for the second consecutive season.
The honors add to Van Gorp’s accomplishments this season, as he was previously named to the American Rivers all-conference First Team for the third straight year. Prior to this season, Josh had also been named the conference’s MVP the past two seasons.
This winter, Van Gorp averaged 23.5 points, the seventh highest in the country, and 10.5 rebounds per game, both of which led the conference. He also led all of Division III in field goals made with 266 and field goal percentage at 68%. The memorable season also saw Van Gorp break multiple records. Against Dubuque on February 15th, Van Gorp became Central’s all-time leading scorer, surpassing the 1,856 career points set by Colby Taylor from 2013-17, and went on to finish his time with the Dutch with 1,991 points. He also broke the records for double-doubles in a season along with the most in a career. He finished with 16 double-doubles this season, and 36 for his career, passing Taylor again who had 33. Van Gorp also broke his own school record, and the conference record, for points in a game with 55 against Coe in a 75-73 win on February 1st.
The Dutch finished their season with a 17-12 record and won the A-R-C tournament for the first time since the 2015-16 season.
