The planned relocation of 56,000 gallons of anhydrous ammonia to a site just west of Sully produced no public comment during a public hearing this week at the Jasper County Courthouse in Newton. The Iowa Department of Natural Resources required the Jasper County Board of Supervisors to hold a public hearing on Key Cooperative of Sully’s plans to move 30,000 gallons of anhydrous ammonia from a storage tank in Grinnell, and 26,000 gallons from another tank in Sully. Jasper County Board of Supervisors Chairman Brandon Talsma says the new storage location was the site of a former business.

“They’ve purchased what used to be the Sully Truck Wash and are going to be moving it out there. I think by state code, they have to publicize it through us.”

Key Cooperative’s Chief Operating Officer and Agronomy Division Manager Brent Deppe said back in September, he thought the anhydrous ammonia move would be completed this fall.
