Property Taxes are due to local county treasurer’s offices by April 1st.
Property owners will not receive a tax statement for March. The Marion County Treasurer’s Office only sends out tax statements in August; and these statements have the payment stubs for both the September and March installments every year. Marion County has several payment options available, including online by following this link, by mail, the 24/7 drop box at the courthouse, at the treasurer’s office, or over the phone. Marion County Treasurer Michaela Bigaouette says it is easy to forget about the March payment as the statement only comes out in August.
“We only send out one tax statement in mid-August and that has your two payment stubs on it, the one that is due at the end of September and the one that is due at the end of March. Since we don’t send out a second tax statement that is really easy to fall off our residents’ radar so again if you can help me get those reminders out that if your taxes aren’t in escrow they’re due at the end of March.”
Those with any questions regarding property taxes can call the treasurer’s office at 641-828-2202 or you can email tax@marioncountyiowa.gov. Hear more about property taxes from Bigaouette on an upcoming Let’s Talk Knoxville.
