The TPI wind blade manufacturing plant that closed in Newton at the end of 2021 is preparing to reopen in mid May. TPI spokesman Josh Syhlman says May 12th is the projected date for production to begin. According to Syhlman, the company has made progress in hiring individuals over the past four to six weeks. He adds every position that needs to be filled in Newton has been posted on the company’s website, which includes approximately 300 production and factory jobs along with 120 support staff positions.

The TPI Composites plant in northeast Newton is reopening because of a ten year lease extension, in which the company has to produce wind blades for General Electric Renewable Energy.
