A Bussey man was sentenced to a prison term not to exceed ten years by Marion County Judge Michael Jacobsen on Thursday.

On April 5th, 2024, 61-year-old Rory Colyn was arrested on two counts of sexual abuse charges, following a Pella Police Department investigation into a sex crimes report made by a juvenile victim. In the report, the victim stated that she had been sexually assaulted on several occasions by Colyn, and Rory was alleged to have made admissions and statements that implicated him in committing the lascivious acts against the victim during a phone interview with law enforcement.

On Thursday, Colyn appeared in Marion County court for sentencing after previously pleading to two counts of Lascivious Acts with a Child, both class C felonies. Following a contested sentencing, Judge Jacobsen imposed a sentence of a prison term not to exceed ten years. Colyn will also be required to complete sex offender treatment while in prison, and upon his release, he will be required to register as a sex offender and will continue to be supervised by the Department of Corrections.
