Jasper County Emergency Management Agency Director Jamey Robinson hopes this week’s Severe Weather Awareness Week has helped people become better equipped to deal with inclement weather. Robinson notes there are multiple ways to be alerted about weather threats, and residents  just need  to determine the one that works best for them.

“Sign up for Jasper alerts. You can find the link to that on the jasperema-hls.org website. We also have the new app for phones, both android and apple, Jasper Ready. They can download that on their play store. That puts notifications right to their phone and gives them weather and road conditions and a lot of preparedness information, which is always great.”

Robinson says another option is a weather radio. He also stresses that outdoor sirens that communities sound when there is threatening weather are meant to warn people who are outside, and are not meant to be heard indoors. For more information, follow the link here.
