The Marion County Recorders Office is reminding citizens to renew their boat registration.

All Iowa boats are on the same three year registration cycle with registration renewal beginning January 1st of this year and expiring on April 30th. Marion County boaters are informed of their boat tags expiring by a renewal letter that comes in the mail, and those notices were sent out in January and February. Marion County Recorder Naomi Ellis tells KNIA/KRLS that boaters have different options on how they want to renew.

“Marion County boaters have several ways to renew, they can call our office and pay with their credit card over the phone and we will mail it to them, they can send us the renewal letter in the mail along with a check and we will process it and mail it back, or they can come in person to renew.”

There is a $5.00 late fee for late renewal, and that takes effect on July 1st. Hear more from Ellis on Monday’s Let’s Talk Knoxville.
