The Pella City Council will consider approval of a contract for improvements to the intersection of West Washington Street and the Iowa 163 Northbound exit ramp at their meeting Tuesday. Three bids have been received for the project that would add turn lanes and traffic signals to accommodate a new Kwik Star store at the same location. The project engineer’s estimate came in at $628,000 — all three bids are significantly lower, including the current low number of $545,000 from TK Concrete. The City of Pella and Kwik Trip, Inc. will split those costs 50-50, assuming approval. Work won’t begin on the site until June 30th, with a Fall 2025 completion. The Pella City Council meeting begins at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Pella Public Safety Complex.
