A Pella woman is accused of attempted murder following a domestic incident on Sunday night.
According to court documents, 57-year-old Marci Allen allegedly assaulted someone in a house located in the 1200 Block of Main Street with a knife. During an argument, Allen is accused of stabbing the victim several times. In a 911 call to the Pella Police Department, that person claimed Marci was trying to kill him. Medical personnel reported the victim had wounds to the hands and a deeper stab wound in his neck, which required the response of the MercyOne Air Med helicopter. The man involved in the attack is in “critical condition,” according to a release by the Pella Police Department.
Responding officers say upon arrival, they found Marci with blood on her clothing, and claimed she demonstrated to police a stabbing motion when describing the incident. A search warrant was acquired, and police believe the weapon used was a large kitchen knife. Allen faces one count of attempted murder, a Class B felony, and domestic abuse assault with a weapon. The Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Pella Community Ambulance, and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation assisted on the scene.
Allen had an initial appearance in Marion County District Court, with bond set at $50,000 cash. A no contact order with the alleged victim has also been issued.
