The spring sports season at Pella Christian officially gets underway today for the Eagles tennis squads, as the boys travel to Centerville and the girls host the Big Reds.

The Pella Christian boys are coming off a 2023-2024 campaign in which they went 5-6 overall. Meanwhile, the Centerville boys are coming off an 0-9 season in 2023-2024. The Eagles and Big Reds’ boys tennis teams have previously squared off in three of the last four years, with Pella Christian winning two of the three contests. Centerville nabbed the first win of the series by a final score of 8-1 in April of 2021, while the Eagles won 7-2 in April 2022 and 9-0 in March 2023.

Back on Eagle Lane, the Pella Christian girls are looking to improve upon their 4-5 overall record last spring, and will do so against a Big Reds squad that went 0-5 last year. Today’s meeting between the Eagles and Centerville girls teams is the fifth since 2019, with Pella Christian winning all four of the prior matchups. The Eagles won the first two contests against the Big Reds 10-1 in 2019 and 2021, before picking up a 9-0 sweep in 2022 and a 5-0 sweep in the Regional Team Tournament in 2023. 

Both of Pella Christian’s tennis matches against Centerville today are scheduled to begin at 4:15 pm.
