training-2

City of Newton employees in management positions completed outside training by a Des Moines employment litigation attorney recently. Newton City Clerk Katrina Davis says Julie Bittner with MWH Law, conducted a two hour session with 17 city supervisors, captains, and directors. She notes other consultants have done other types of training with city employees, but this was the first time the employees heard from Bittner.

“Her training was really focused on discrimination, retaliation, and harassment. It was a very interactive session, and she provided them real-life scenarios and examples she’s seen in her career. She let them ask questions, and then provided some good recommendations on best practices on how to handle that.”

Davis notes the feedback from the training was positive, and the session was recorded so it can be accessed by other members of Newton’s City Management team in the future. Newton City Clerk Katrina Davis Talks more about this training on today’s Let’s Talk Newton.
