The Indianola boys soccer team picked up a big win in their opening tilt against Lewis Central 2-1 Tuesday evening, while the girls dominated in their opener against Knoxville 8-0.
The boys got their scoring started on a rocket 40 yard free kick from Jacob Chickering to lead 1-0, and took that lead into halftime. The Titans would score with just over 20 minutes remaining, only to see the Indians get another goal on a corner kick just five minutes later from Chickering again to lead 2-1 and would ride that score to the win.
The girls put the pressure on early against the Panthers, getting goals from Isabelle Crooks, Camden Palmer, Leia Graham, and Brianna Cornell in the first half to lead 4-0, then four more in the second half from Crooks, Palmer, and two from Kodi Helm.
Both teams improve to 1-0 and will play tomorrow, the boys hosting Southeast Polk and the girls on the road at Nevada.
