The Central College men’s tennis team opened American Rivers Conference matches with a swift 7-0 sweep of Simpson College on Wednesday.

The Dutch (6-10, 1-0 A-R-C) earned the doubles point winning two of the three matches. Alex Slaymaker and Travis Subbert won 6-1 at #2 doubles, while the freshmen duo of Jack Briggs and Benny Ramker won 6-0 at #3. Central then dominated the singles matches, winning all six. Ayden Fletcher bounced back after losing the first set 7-5 to win 6-4 in the second set and 10-7 in the tiebreak. In the other five matches, the Dutch held Simpson to six total games in the ten sets that were played. Briggs extended his winning streak with a 6-0, 6-2 win at #2, while AJ Wilkins won 6-0, 6-1 at #3 and Ramker won 6-2, 6-1 at #4. Ernest Alvarez Chedzoy at #5 and Gavin Jablonski at #6 both won 6-0, 6-0.

The Dutch will hit the road on Tuesday and travel to Lincoln, Nebraska to take on Nebraska Wesleyan University at 4 pm.
