A Newton man taken into custody on an outstanding warrant Thursday afternoon faces an additional felony drug charge. Newton Police said an officer saw 39-year-old Branden Lee Jones standing outside a First Avenue East convenience store, and took him into custody on the warrant. The criminal complaint says the officer found two grams of methamphetamine in a small baggie in Jones’ front pants pocket, and he is charged with 3rd offense possession of a controlled substance. Court documents show his prior possession of controlled substance convictions were in April 2007 and March 2019.
