Boys And Girls Golf Win Triangular

The Knoxville Golf Squads finally made their season debuts on the links Tuesday and both squads came away with good results. The boys won a triangular over Carlisle and Clarke with the Panthers shooting a 157 to Carlisle’s 172 and Clarke’s 191. Other scores were Grant DeMoss with a 40, Mikey DeVos with a 41 and Hayden Keefer with a 44. Coach Barry Smith tells KNIA/KRLS this year’s group may be more balanced and his hope is to have all six scores get a chance to count toward the team total.

Smith: “What we’re trying to do is any golfer 1-6 can count their scores and be a part of that process, and I think the boys get it.”

The girls were victorious in their season opener scoring a 221 to Carlisle’s 247 with no score from Clarke. Caelie Smith was medalist with a 47, Abbie Keitges had a round of 49 for third place.

Girls scores:
Caelie Smith 47 (medalist)
