The Indianola City Council gave direction to city staff to continue work on the traffic study, Urban Renewal Plan, and more regarding the intersection of N Jefferson and Kentucky Ave in addition to the Kentucky Ridge development. Indianola Mayor Steve Richardson tells KNIA News as more information continues to come in, the council wants to be able to tackle all of it at once to get a clear picture, rather than piecemeal.

“There’s a lot of moving parts with that whole development right now because there is a grocery store chain that would like to go into a piece of there on the ground fronting the highway, so there has got to be significant changes to the Urban renewal agreement, significant changes which is part of the Tax Increment Financing changes. As part of that whole discussion, it didn’t really make sense for us to dive into one piece of that when we are going to have to go back and look at multiple other changes in that particular agreement, and bring it all together to the council in one package.”
