The Norwalk soccer teams took to the pitch at Mineart Field on Friday night for a varsity doubleheader. The Class 2A sixth-ranked Warrior girls finished in a 1-1 tie with 2A No. 4 North Polk before the Warrior boys shut out Denison-Schleswig 3-0.

Norwalk freshman Bella Moede’s goal late in the first half tied the score at 1-1 and ultimately led to the Warrior girls’ second consecutive Friday night tie. Junior goalie Katie Liedtke had another big game with 11 saves unofficially. Norwalk is now 2-1-2 overall and will host Oskaloosa in Little Hawkeye Conference play on Tuesday night.

The Warrior boys improved to 3-0-1 on the season with their shutout of the Monarchs. Eli Scavo, Tavin Ferner and Jonah Sandhoff scored first-half goals, with Ferner’s point coming on a penalty kick. Assists were credited to Tyden Eng, Hudson Ford and Teegan Kralik. Norwalk capitalized on their four shots on goal and played a great defensive game. Goalie Jacoby Robbins had one save. Norwalk is right back at it this morning, hosting Spencer at 10 a.m.
