An Indianola police officer is accused of stalking another person. According to court records, 43-year-old Justin Keller was spotted by several neighbors driving around the victim’s house and property since December. The Carlisle Police Department is handling the investigation, and in the criminal complaint highlighted several instances of Keller making his own presence known around the victim, and on Sunday, allegedly let himself into that individual’s residence. He faces one count of stalking, an aggravated misdemeanor. The City of Indianola website indicates Keller has been an officer with the department since 2005.

UPDATE: KNIA/KRLS has received the following statement from Indianola Police Chief Brian Sher:

“On April 13, 2025, at 1827 Hrs., Indianola Police Officers were dispatched to a residence on N. 9th St. in Indianola for harassment. Officers were notified that the suspect in this case was identified as Indianola Police Lieutenant Justin Keller. Due to Lieutenant Keller’s employment with the Indianola Police Department, Carlisle Police Department was contacted to investigate this incident.

Later, at approximately 2116 Hrs., Indianola Officers were dispatched to the same residence for a subject in the backyard of the residence. A short distance away from the residence, officers located Lieutenant Justin Keller, and he was detained.

Again, the Carlisle Police Department was contacted to investigate the incident due to Lieutenant Keller’s employment with the Indianola police Department. During the Carlisle Police investigation, it was determined that Lieutenant Keller engaged in a course of conduct that put the victim in fear, frightened or intimidated. The Carlisle Police Department arrested Lieutenant Keller for stalking and transported Lieutenant Keller to the Warren County Jail.

Lieutenant Keller is currently on unpaid administrative leave, as an internal investigation is underway.

These are serious allegations that the Indianola Police Department and the City of Indianola do not take lightly. Due to city policies related to our employees, we are unable to comment any further at this time.
