The Marion County Sheriff’s Office is reminding citizens to use caution around farm equipment.
Marion County Sheriff Jason Sandholdt says that drivers should slow down when behind farm equipment and machinery, be extra cautious when reaching the top of a hill, be aware of hidden farm entrances, and only pass on a safe straightaway. Sandholdt says in an agricultural rich state like Iowa, it is especially important to be respectful of the farmers on the road.
“Obviously right now we are just starting to see those tractors and planters in the field and people need to be aware of that on highways and especially those gravel roads. When there is a farmer who is pulling a planter they are going at a slower speed and when they are going over the crest of a hill you need to be aware of that and take more time.”
