
The Simpson Storm baseball team got a big boost to their American Rivers Conference tournament hopes on Monday as they defeated Buena Vista 7-4.The Storm went up 6-0 in the first two innings on a Trenton Kingrey RBI groundout, a Bryson Gibson homerun, and another Kingrey homer in the second that drove in three more. Simpson then added another run in the seventh with yet another Kingrey homer, before the Beavers began their comeback. Buena Vista scored three in the eighth and another in the ninth, but the lead was too much and the Storm got a win. Trey Castile got the victory on the mound throwing seven innings of two-hit ball, while Kingrey went 2-3 with five runs batted in. The Storm are now 12-18 overall and 6-10 in conference play, putting them just a game out of an American Rivers Conference tournament spot. They take on Nebraska Wesleyan for a doubleheader today.
